Full Job Description

A Healthcare Charity in East London are seeking a Finance Officer on a permanent basis. The Finance Officer is a key support role for Finance & Operations and the wider organisation, responsible for dealing in a timely and effective way with bookkeeping, finance, payroll and general financial administration.

This is a hybrid role.

Main Duties -

- Manage the Purchase Ledger for the organisation in accordance with the procedures outlined in 2 the Finance Manual and Handbook.

- Process purchase invoices on the accounting system and arrange for the payment of appropriately authorized invoices.

- Administer all staff, volunteer and trustee expenses.

- Assist the Finance manager with the month the end process.

- Conduct bank reconciliations for the Trust and Trading companies.

- Update the Fixed asset registers.

- Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and getting sign off from the Finance Manager.

- Preparation of quarterly VAT returns.

- Work with HR and the outsourced payroll provider to ensure that both weekly and monthly payroll is processed and administered accurately and on time.

- Bank reconciliation of money received to ensure the amounts and coding on the accounts system agree with those on the Fundraising database/ bank iv.

- Assist the Finance Manager with preparation of ad hock reports for the various managers.

Experience -

- Previous book-keeping and payroll administration experience.

- Knowledge of control account reconciliation.

- Experience of preparing accounts to trial balance.

- Understanding of the importance of sound financial controls embedded into the transactional processing activities within Finance.

- Excellent numeracy.

- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

- Good working knowledge of other Microsoft Office packages.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Experience of finance in the charity or not-for-profit sector is an advantage.

- Knowledge of charity SORP accounting is desirable.

- Knowledge of Business Central and Raiser's Edge is an advantage.
