Job Description

Role summary:

The Flight Doctor is responsible for leading clinical resuscitation and stabilisation of patients in flight, whilst working as a multi-disciplined team.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead all aspects of clinical care related to critical care transportation and flight medicine
  • Liaise with other medical staff to ensure continuity of care
  • Ensures that all medical records are properly kept and maintained
  • Provision of clinical reporting into Iqarus Chief Medical Officer
  • Support clinical mentoring for staff development
  • Ensure best practice in line with clinical guidelines and SOPs
  • Support the clinical excellence framework under direction from the Chief Medical Officer
  • Provide liaison with external agencies where required to promote chain of care continuity and professional referral/patient handover

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A first level degree in Medicine with a minimum of 3 years continuous progressively clinical experience' post qualification.
  • Postgraduate training in Anaesthesia or Emergency Medicine or Aero-Medicine with a minimum of three (3) years' post qualification experience.
  • Currently registered and licensed to practice medicine and apply specialty without supervision in own country

Key Skills:

  • Certification in ATLS (or equivalent) and ACLS
  • Training in Aviation Medicine
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent IT skills including use of electronic medical records systems
  • Fluency in English

Essential Capabilities:

  • Ability to work calmly and effectively under high-stress work conditions
  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplined team, with clinical and non-clinical personnel
