Food and Beverage Manager | Orsett, Essex | Full Time – 45 hours | £35,000 pa

Join our client at their 4-star boutique hotel nestled in the heart of Essex. With 56 unique bedrooms, conference facilities, a fantastic restaurant, and a rejuvenating spa, the team are dedicated to providing guests with an unparalleled experience.

You will mainly work evenings, Sunday lunch and the occasional early shift to keep in touch with team.

Are you the right person for the job?

  • In-depth knowledge of the hotel/leisure/service sector
  • Experience with the Res Diary restaurant booking system
  • Proven track record of success in Food & Beverage management
  • Commercial capability to deliver profit, control costs, and build customer loyalty
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Excellent financial management skills
  • Ability to analyse and anticipate trends
  • Proactive and decisive attitude

What will your role look like?

  • Coordinating and directing employees to ensure excellent customer service in the Restaurant, Sartoria Café, Sunday Lunch, Lounge, and Bar areas
  • Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Restaurant and Bar, including breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner service, room service, and catering for larger parties
  • Maximising sales, profits, and customer satisfaction
  • Controlling food and beverage budget, departmental expenses, and staff rotas
  • Ensuring adherence to administration, cash control, stock control, and security procedures by self and team members
  • Recruitment and staff training
  • Leading by example
  • Planning rotas and holidays according to business levels to maintain service standards and manage wage costs
  • Creating a team environment that promotes good morale and commitment
  • Conducting regular checks to ensure all team members have requirements for excellent F&B service
  • Identifying and acting upon opportunities to grow revenue and reduce costs
  • Ensuring compliance with licensing laws, and health and safety regulations
  • Completing shift handovers and checklists
  • Planning, coordinating, and leading weekly F&B meetings
  • Ensuring compliance regarding food hygiene, allergens, and hotel F&B systems
  • Handling customer complaints effectively
  • Controlling, updating, and managing EPOS system
  • Completing weekly rota and payroll approval on the Planday payroll system
  • Acting as Duty Manager when required
  • Monitoring and managing employee absences within F&B department
  • Managing staff issues informally and advising General Manager/HR on formal issues
