Forestry Machine Operator Required- Hampshire, West Sussex, Kent
- 40 hours per week
- 16 - 19per hour depending on experience and qualifications + overtime
Duties and Responsibilities of a FMO / Forestry Machine Operator:
- Perform mechanised tree felling and harvesting tasks using equipment such as grapple saws in various forestry operations including clear felling, thinning's, and Duty of Care (DoC) works.
- Execute all tasks to the highest standard, maintaining cleanliness and safety on sites.
- Operate harvesting machines efficiently to meet production targets while minimisingidle time.
- Adhere to health, safety, and environmental standards, including site management plans and risk assessments.
- Ensure proper usage of machinery and tools in accordance with safe operating procedures.
- Conduct routine maintenance on operated machinery and complete necessary documentation.
- Collaborate effectively with the forestry team and line managers to achieve team objectives and foster positive working relationships.
- Promptly report any issues or incidents to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist with material transportation to and from sites.
- Attend meetings and participate in training sessions as required.
- Uphold Company Policies and Procedures, reflecting the ethos and values of the organisation.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties assigned by the Company.
- Maintain flexibility and adaptability to accommodate the evolving needs of the Company.
- Significant experience in large-scale mechanisedharvesting operations, including grapple saw operation or similar.
- Harvester FMOCS qualified/CPCS tracked/wheeled machines.
- Proficient in health, safety, and environmental practices.
- Ability to read and interpret maps, including GPS/GIS.
- Strong problem-solving skills and flexibility in approach to work.
- Good physical fitness and mobility.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Self-motivated and capable of working well within a team.
- Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions.
- Full UK driving license.
- NPTC in chainsaw use (maintenance, cross-cutting, and felling up to 380mm).
- Driving license category B+E (trailer towing).
