Freelance PCB Designer

• We are seeking a proven PCB Designer to work on a freelance, project by project basis.
• Can be located anywhere within the UK. No requirements for travel / visits.
• Likely to engage in future repeat work due to ongoing growth.

Summary

Our client, ABL Circuits Ltd., seek a skilled freelance PCB designer to create high-quality printed circuit board designs for various ongoing projects. Responsibilities include; collaborating with clients to understand requirements, designing schematics and layouts, ensuring designs meet industry standards, and delivering projects on time to specification. Proficiency in PCB design software and a strong knowledge of electronics principles are required. Flexible availability and excellent communication skills are essential.

The process of work will involve you receiving customer files and design specifications from ABL Circuits directly. You will then be tasked with reviewing the documents, providing any relevant feedback, and a quote to complete the job. If ABL then wins the work, the freelancer will be provided a PO for their time. All payments to and from the freelancer will be through ABL.

The PCB Designer’s Responsibilities:

• Designing printed circuit boards (PCBs) according to project requirements and specifications.
• Collaborating with clients to understand their needs and provide technical solutions.
• Creating schematics, layouts, and component placements for PCB designs.
• Ensuring designs meet industry standards for performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Conduct design reviews and make necessary revisions based on feedback.
• Generating necessary documentation, including bills of materials (BOMs) and assembly drawings.
• Working independently and efficiently to meet project deadlines.

The PCB Designer’s Requirements:

• Proficiency in PCB design software such as Altium Designer Preferred
• Strong understanding of electronics principles and circuit design.
• Experience with schematic capture, PCB layout, and design verification.
• Knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability (DFM) considerations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality designs.
• Availability for freelance work on a project basis.
• This job is commutable from Baldock, Hitchin, Stevenage and surrounding areas.
