General Manager

 Full-time / Onsite Permanent Position 

 LTN - London Luton Airport


 

The members of the Inland Group of Companies (Inland Technologies, IDS and Quantem Aviation Services) are highly experienced in environmental management, aircraft de-icing, ground handling and pretty much any other aviation support service you can think of. Position Overview: 

The General Manager is responsible and accountable for the overall performance of the station including the cost-effective use of facilities, equipment, labor and assets assigned to the station. The General Manager is further responsible for supporting the company goals and objectives and promoting the business interests of the company by conducting him or herself in a professional manner while maintaining excellent customer service and good public relations.

Essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Managing all aspects of the facility and daily operations as well as provide leadership and coaching to increase; Overall safety, performance, maintenance, deicing operations, facility requirements and customer service; Develop, maintain and ensure that employees follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and that IDS Deicer’s are following environmental laws, guidelines and reporting;
  • Assist in hiring, recruiting and retaining employees, scheduling and training;
  • Verify certifications of all new and returning staff and ensure they receive all operational training, recurrent training, and Health and Safety training;
  • Assist in conducting new employee orientation during the first week of employment, covering all company and airport/base policies, security and protocol;
  • Administering personnel documents, handling employee issues, and submitting all required documents to the Corporate Office for maintaining the employment files;
  • Enforce IDS, airport authority, airline, and other regulatory offices policies and or procedures;
  • Monitor maintenance on all equipment and provide safety training for all base employees; Develop, implement and update a site manpower plan that maintains adequate operations staffing levels for safe and effective operation and meets all requirements of the contract;
  • Monitor station performance and delegate, realign and cross train staff to improve productivity;
  • Develop local emergency plans and training requirements to handle evacuations, security issues, accident investigations, first response procedures and potential environmentally hazardous situations;
  • Prepare budgets, create invoicing, and manage payroll; with respective corporate position(s);
  • Manage and control site expenditures within agreed budgets;
  • Perform station audits, provide information needed for airline deicing reports, and handle all airline and FAA questions/concerns as required;
  • Participate in meetings with local and regional airline managers, as requested and respond to customer inquiries and requests in a timely manner;


Required Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Business Management or related field preferred although relevant post-secondary education and combination of continuing education and experience may be acceptable;
  • 3 years direct aircraft deicing operations management experience;
  • 5 or more years of airline operational experience including but not limited to customer service, operations, maintenance, deicing, flight operations, facility requirements, airport management and safety/regulatory requirements;
  • Knowledge of regulatory and airline policies, warehouse procedures, operating station equipment, and aircraft handling procedures;
  • Staff management skills, including mentorship, performance management and conflict resolution;
  • Possess solid project management skills to include coordination of team, identifying and assessing project criteria, implementation of key tasks, communication and monitoring of progress and results, and managing to project completion with final results and outcomes being reported;
  • Able to lead team in meeting goals, identifying areas of strength and follow through to be sure that deadlines are met and success/failures are identified following each project;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to listen to others and value opinions, interpret information, promote and execute ideas, prepare reports and presentations, lead groups and provide foundation of open communication;
  • Intermediate computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Office 365;
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining professionalism in all interactions. 

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Legally entitled to work in the country where position is located;
  • Driver’s license valid in country of operation and driving record that meets Company insurance standards;
  • Airside ID Pass;
  • Airside Driving Permit (ADP). 
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull objects up to 25 pounds;
  • Position involves standing or sitting for extended periods of time as well as bending, kneeling, lifting, climbing, using hands to control tools and feel objects, reaching with hands and arms;
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus;
