Job Description:

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Geography Teacher to join our dedicated team supporting schools in the Rochdale area. As a Geography Teacher, you will inspire curiosity about the world, foster critical thinking skills, and deepen students' understanding of geographical concepts and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging and informative Geography lessons, covering topics such as physical geography, human geography, and environmental sustainability.
  • Utilise a range of teaching strategies and resources, including maps, GIS technology, multimedia, and fieldwork opportunities, to bring geography to life and engage students in meaningful learning experiences.
  • Foster an appreciation for global issues and interconnections, encouraging students to explore the social, economic, and environmental dimensions of geographical phenomena.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students, providing additional support and extension opportunities as necessary to ensure all learners reach their full potential.
  • Organise and supervise fieldwork experiences, excursions, and geographical investigations, helping students develop practical skills in data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Assess student progress through a combination of formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to support their development and achievement in Geography.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices, resources, and ideas for enhancing the teaching and learning of Geography across the school.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification, specialising in Geography or related field.
  • Relevant degree in Geography, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience teaching Geography at the secondary level is preferred.
  • Strong subject knowledge and passion for geography education.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting curiosity, empathy, and global awareness.
  • Willingness to contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular activities and enrichment opportunities.
