Summary / purpose of the position

The Global Market Access & Pricing Director develops and drives the execution of pricing and market access strategies, to demonstrate the value of our products to health authorities, HTA agencies and payers. This particular position will focus on our Rare Disease therapeutic area, with particular attention on rare liver ] and rare musculoskeletal disorders.

The main responsibilities are to gain and maintain optimal market access & pricing conditions for products within the Ipsen Rare Disease portfolio, identify key payer and healthcare system opportunities and develop and implement strategies to overcome challenges globally.

The Global Market Access & Pricing Director will work closely across functions within the Rare Disease Global teams, as well as with Ipsen affiliate countries. The Global Market Access & Pricing Director is expected to initiate and drive cross-functional initiatives as a leader while demonstrating effectiveness as a team player.

Main responsibilities / job expectations

  • Market Access & Pricing Strategy
  • Monitor the pricing & reimbursement landscape globally and potential competitive threats.
  • Anticipate potential pricing developments and outline mitigation strategies in partnership with global and local teams.
  • Develop and drive the pricing and reimbursement strategies for Ipsen rare disease products, including innovative access constructs to maximize potential over time and facilitate sustainable patient access.
  • Partner with key internal stakeholders (R&D, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Marketing, Public Affairs, Patient Affairs, External Communication, Ethics & Compliance, etc.) to deliver clear and informed access recommendations relating to data generation, payer strategy, pricing, reimbursement and value proposition for Ipsen rare disease products.
  • Identify payer types & local needs (evidence-driven, budget oriented, etc.) to optimize patient access conditions for Ipsen rare disease products.
  • Ensure clinical programs as well as HEOR/payer evidence plans meet the requirements of key Health Technology Assessment (HTA) agencies and payer stakeholders.
  • Identify gaps in evidence and work closely with HEOR to develop solutions to fill these gaps (i.e., evidence generation).
  • Develop and update relevant global tools: Global Value Dossiers (GVD), Global Payer Value Propositions (PVP), etc.
  • Deliver clear recommendations relating to data generation, payer strategy, pricing and reimbursement and value proposition for the Ipsen RD Assets.
  • Develop and drive the Pricing and reimbursement strategies for the Ipsen RD Assets, including innovative access constructs based on the unique value of each asset, to maximize the potential of the Asset over time and facilitate sustainable patient access.
  • Work closely with the HEOR team to fill these gaps (evidence generation) and develop/update relevant tools: core HTA dossiers, payer value proposition, etc.
  • Support the local Ipsen Market Access teams for local adaptation of the core payer documents (GVD, PVP etc.) for effective local value demonstration with local Payer stakeholders and implementation of the Global Access strategies.
  • Ensure pricing & reimbursement insights and requirements are embedded in Brand plans throughout the lifecycle.
  • Partner with key internal interfaces stakeholders (local Market Access, GMs and global functions such as R&D, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Marketing, Public Affairs, Patient Affairs, External Communication, Ethics & Compliance, etc.) to deliver informed access recommendations as part of internal decision making
  • Manage the Global P&MA budget to plan, to ensure maximization of resources to fulfill the product/asset access needs, while ensuring efficiencies in budget allocation
  • Pricing excellence
  • Work closely with Global Pricing to assess the impact of external reference pricing, forecast net price evolution across markets over time and support business case development and dissemination.
  • Monitor closely competitor pricing strategies, including innovative and successful initiatives of competitors/analogs.
  • Develop pricing excellence across the company (training & education) and organize relevant workshops and taskforces.
  • Environment monitoring
  • Monitor European and global policy projects, healthcare reforms and measure impact on established products and pipeline assets.
  • Work closely with Global Operational Pricing and actively contribute to tender management where applicable
  • Ethics & Compliance
  • Ensure that adequate financial structures and controls are in place.
  • Comply with Company guidelines and country/industry standards on ethics and compliance.
  • Act as a role model displaying the 5 Ipsen Ways of Being.
  • Ensure that all activities are undertaken in accordance with all Ipsen SOPs, policies, directives and relevant national guidelines.

Knowledge, abilities & experience

Education / Certifications:

  • Ideal:  both scientific background and business focus

Experience:

  • At least 10 years in the field of Market Access & Pricing.
  • Experience working on local HTA submissions and pricing assessments.
  • Proven experience in successfully managing multiple international projects and deadlines in a hands-on manner, within a fast-paced work environment – in full compliance with laws, regulations and policies.

Languages:

  •   Fluent English is compulsory.

Key Technical Competencies Required

  • Technical knowledge of economic evaluations in healthcare.
  • Knowledge of international health care systems.
  • Ability to develop Market Access and Pricing strategies.
  • Solid business background enabling the assessment of competitive impact on payer strategies and the ability to challenge strategies and tactics.
  • Ability to work under pressure, to take accountability and ownership for business challenges, think strategically and tackle complex problems.
  • Executive presence and ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization, including c-Suite/ Senior Leadership.
  • Proven ability to build coalitions and develop strong partnerships across functions.
  • Strong analytical skills.
