A new opportunity for a Graduate Engineer has arisen with a cutting-edge medical technology developing minimally invasive fibre optic sensing technologies. This is an ideal opportunity for a graduate from the relevant field or an assembly / production technician looking to get involved in development work.

Our team of specialists is committed to crafting next-generation medical devices, leading the charge in cardiac innovation. The role of the Development Engineer involves supporting the R&D and engineering teams in assembling, testing, and maintaining intricate microscale medical devices and equipment.

Graduate Development Engineer – Optical / Mechanical

Location: Central London

Salary: £DOE + 25 Days Holiday + Stock Options + Benefits Package

Key Duties:

  • Assemble and dismantle complex microscale medical devices, adhering to detailed schematics, technical drawings, and assembly instructions.
  • Performing functional tests and calibrations on medical devices utilising test rigs and flow dynamics.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve equipment issues, collaborating with engineers to address technical challenges promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment assembly, testing, and maintenance activities, documenting any modifications or alterations made to devices.
  • Support quality control processes by inspecting and verifying the quality of components and finished products.
  • Uphold a clean and organized laboratory environment, ensuring all equipment and tools are in optimal working condition.
  • Engage in collaborative efforts with engineers, scientists, and team members to bolster research and development projects and contribute to the evolution of innovative medical technologies.

Desired background:

  • HNC, Bachelor’s or MSc degree in a relevant field preferred – Optics, Photonics, Optomechanical, Sensor technologies, etc.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within the medical device or hands-on engineering industry.
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions.
  • Familiarity with Labview or comparable engineering development tools.
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and best practices.
