Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity to join Arriva UK Bus' strategic friendly, ambitious and well respected HR Team, as the Business Partner for Head office Functions and Projects. This role has full accountability for guiding and advising the business on day to day and strategic people issues and concepts, with a stakeholder group across all Head Office functions including Finance, Property, HR, Business Excellence and H&S.


This role covers the whole of England so you will need to be comfortable with travel in a hybrid capacity.


Key duties

  • Partnering with business leads, ensuring consistent ways of working and key stakeholders are driving toward the HR Strategy.,
  • Involvement in pay and policy negotiations and central negotiations committee meetings as appropriate
  • Give consistent guidance on ER/IR cases and situation in a timely way – reducing ET claims
  • Responsible for building and fostering good Union relations within your area
  • Driving key people metrics and delivering opportunities to develop employee engagement and performance
  • Lead and contribute to the business strategic plans to reduce attrition and implement initiatives to improve employee retention.
  • Ensure flawless execution of all Core HR people processes i.e. Attendance management, Discipline, Grievance case management, Pay/bonus review, objective setting Review, Performance Management Cycles, Talent reviews & Succession Planning in line with Business Requirements
  • Working with Department leads and key stakeholders across the UK,.
  • Lead and or contribute to UK wide HR activity / projects


This role could be based from any UK location – the expectation would be for someone to have the desire to travel 2/3 days per week to build key relationships around the business.


About you

  • Friendly and approachable style with a great sense of humour!
  • CIPD qualified with a good network of contacts and experience.
  • Experience of working in a (Customer / Consumer) front end business.
  • Someone hungry – not to accept the ‘status quo’ and be a solution finder !
  • Experience of a large ‘Change’ culture and environment – bringing people on new journeys.
