HS&E Advisor – Environment

Falmer

What you will be doing:

An opportunity has arisen for a HS&E Advisor to join the team at Galliford Try.

Ideally, you will based in or around the Falmer area and will have the opportunity to travel across multiple sites/projects in the Region.

As HS&E Advisor, you will support the Framework HS&E Manager on all health, safety, and environmental aspects. You will support and implement the HS&E strategy and systems to ensure that the delivery of our operations meets exemplary safety, health, and environmental standards. This role supports improvement and consistency in performance, ensuring compliance with management systems, and implementing continual improvement initiatives.

Key Outputs:

  • Supports operational staff in the review of project documentation such as Construction Phase Plans, Emergency
  • Response Plans, high-risk method statements and risk assessments, etc..
  • Carries out HS&E reviews and inspections at our workplaces on a regular basis, conducts site safety and
  • Environmental audits, and undertakes ISO 14001 audits to ensure compliance with our management systems.
  • Records in our systems and advises management as appropriate.
  • Assists in onboarding and management review of our supply chain partners applicable to project or business scope where necessary.
  • Supports our learning and development programme by preparing and delivering training and awareness sessions, instructions, best practice guidance, codes of practice, environmental information, etc. to our operational and leadership teams, our clients and at industry events as required.
  • Responsible for investigating incidents and non-conformities, production of reports and leading opportunities for improvement, as appropriate.
  • Support or lead incident investigations to identify root causes and recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Monitor and manage incident reports within the designated timescale and manage close out on the Galliford
  • Try M2i system. Liaise with regulatory bodies in the management of incidents.
  • Produce month end reports in a timely manner and present to the relevant Board.

About You:

Essential

  • Relevant HS&E experience in a similar industry.
  • Holds a NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate or is working towards one.
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel across projects / contracts in region.

DESIRABLE

  • Member of IOSH or IIRSM (TechIOSH as a minimum).
  • CMIOSH or Working towards.
  • Diploma NVQ Level 3 or above
  • Aware of individual HS&E responsibilities and adheres to company HS&E policy and procedures.
  • Able to demonstrate alignment and work in line with the Galliford Try values - Excellence, Passion,

  • A responsible team member with an open, strategic, and analytic mind, who is committed to productivity, compliance, and continual improvement.
  • Good communicator, written and verbal; ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
