We are looking for a Head Baker with a wealth of experience to join our exciting and diverse bakery team, located in the heart of Bermondsey. This is not your usual Head Baker role, you will be responsible for the whole operation of our Central Production Unit including the preparation and baking of our cakes and pastries. Along with the day-to-day operation, there will be opportunities for product development and pushing our offering forward.

Direct Reports

Directly reports into the Head of Food.

Directly managed CPU Team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Producing high quality cakes and pastries to the standard and deadline.

• Ensuring the bakery is a well utilised and efficient workspace.

• Managing the performance of 8 to 10 team members and ensuring rota schedules are published and to budget.

• Performance managing your team .

• Liaising with suppliers to ensure we are receiving the highest quality products at the best price possible.

• Rolling out food launches across multiple locations

Key to this role:

• Previous bakery experience with a passion for producing products to a high quality standard following the clear food specs and recipes set out by the senior food team.

• To be self-motivated and take initiative within the role, problem solving and troubleshooting where needed.

• A thinker and a doer, able organise yourself and effectively also contribute positively to a growing business.

• Enjoys being part of a team but is also able to self-manage

• Strong work ethic and flexibility ­­­­­

• Calm and efficient in a busy environment

Professional Qualifications / Experience Preferred:

• 3 years minimum experience within a professional bakery;

• Hold an utter passion for food, innovative development and delivery of high standards;

• Food Hygiene Qualifications;

• High level of communicative skills - liaising with the food team, your direct reports and key stakeholders in the business;

• Strong planning and organisational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail.
