Full Job Description

Finegreen are supporting a large NHS organisation in the recruitment of a Head of Corporate Governance to work in South West England on an interim basis for 3 – 6 months.

The role will require full time hours with 4 days on-site working with 1 day remotely. This is a band 8D post to commence ASAP.

The post holder will work closely with the Chair, Chief Executive, the Board of Directors, and the Council of Governors to ensure that the organisation has in place and effectively operates sound integrated governance policies, procedures, and structures and that it complies with all of its legal, constitutional and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as co sec for the subsidiary company within the organisations;
  • Holding responsibility for IG and FOI;
  • Manage the interface between management and corporate governance arrangements of the Trust and ensure a high standard of reporting, decision- making, risk management and assurance is achieved;
  • Responsible for ensuring the effective functioning of the Chief Executive’s Office and for undertaking specific project work, on behalf of the Chief Executive;
  • Contributing to the development of an organisational culture that embodies, ‘Improving Together’ and NHS Values;
  • Provide comprehensive advice and support on legal matters, matters of procedure, regulatory frameworks and corporate governance to the Board of Directors, Council of Governors and their sub committees;
  • Responsible for the effective meeting arrangements of the Board of Directors, the Council of Governors and their sub committees, including managing committee intercommunication and forward agenda planning;
  • Lead the development, implementation and on-going monitoring of communication systems with Non-Executive Directors;
  • Ensure compliance with the NHS licensing provisions;
  • Maintain the Board Assurance Framework and support the Board of Directors in considering and advising on the risk and governance implications of the organisations five year strategy.

Successful candidate will have:

  • Must have senior management leaderships experience working within the NHS;
  • Responsible for the line management of staff within the Chief Executive’s Office and Membership and Governance department;
  • Experienced within IG and FOI;
  • Excellent communication and report writing skiils.
