Full Job Description

Role:   Head of Governance, Sky Media

Reports to: Director of Finance, Sky Media Commercial Finance and Performance Director

Division:  Sky Media, Sky UK Limited

What you'll do:

The Head of Governance will assume overall responsibility for compliance within Sky Media, including building a culture of ethics and integrity

  • Sky Media takes £1.3bn in Revenues and pays out more than £0.6bn to its’ Media Partners for £0.7bn EBITDA delivery to Sky.  We operate across several thousand delivery combinations of product, go to market and Wholly Owned/Partner inventory.
  • On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for the processes and controls across deal creation, campaign booking (sales) and delivery (operations).  You will have a flexible team of 1 to 3 Managers/Controllers to support the controls work depending on level of project work at any point.
  • Working closely with the finance and operational teams you will undertake a full review of processes and controls to create a BAU environment of simplicity and transparency.  This will form a core part of the Controls, Systems and Processes remediation plan in Sky Media which you will be fully accountable for driving to conclusion.
  • You will be the key contact for all Audits across Sky Media and the first point of escalation for all controls and audit issues. 
  • Where no BPO owner exists today you will take this role for all sales and operational processes.  Where an owner does exist you will validate ownership and sign off on adequate controls and segregation of duties, and frequency of review.  You will ensure all processes are documented and consistently available.    
  • You will undertake Sky Media’s periodic risk assessment in partnership with the Operations, Product, Sales and Performance Directors for approval and review by Comcast, Sky Media MD and Sky Exec.
  • Additional responsibilities will include but not be limited to;
    • New proposition analysis from a control and risk and governance perspective
    • Analysis of monthly KPI’s (including financial information) to provide insight for investigation and overall compliance with policies and procedures
    • Responsible for liaison with Sky Media Finance and UKI Controllership teams
  • Your key business partners will be the Managing Director, Sky Media Brett Aumuller, Director of Operations Martin Leach and Director of Investment, Ruth Cartwright.
  • Your key stakeholders will be Nicholas Herm, CBO, Simon Robson Sky CFO, Claire Turner, Group Chief Compliance Officer)

What you'll bring:

  • A strong leader, capable of managing successfully through periods of change while ensuring your team stays motivated and engaged.
  • A background in audit and/or controls is a must.  A background in Media audit would be highly beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate constructively with Sales and operational teams and influencing to do the right thing.
  • Ability to work at pace – we work in an agile, fast-moving way at Sky Media.
  • Experience of Pentana Controls, Landmark, Salesforce or similar campaign booking systems is beneficial but not critical
  • You will have successfully automated and streamlined manual processes using data tools in the past for both simplification and control improvement

  • The Governance role is a new role to support a step change in controls and risk management across Sky Media.

  • This role will sit alongside the Exec and be the trusted advocate for not only doing the right thing but also ensuring this becomes a point of competitive advantage externally within the Media industry.
