We have a great opportunity for a Head of Marketing and External Communications here at UPP. Reporting into the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), the focus for this role will be designing the strategy; ensuring best- in-class execution across all things marketing and external communications, along with supporting the development and long-term cultivation of UPP’s profile and reputation.

Role Responsibilities include:

  • Evolve the UPP brand and support account-based marketing initiatives to enhance reputation and growth across UPP’s partners, increase student advocacy and deliver impactful marketing campaigns to position UPP across all audiences
  • Support the marketing of UPP accommodation across our partnerships, as well as own the design and roll out of corporate marketing campaigns across B2B and B2C landscapes
  • Lead on our digital strategy and elevate our profile across social media and the external landscape and ensure alignment across multiple channels of communication and build exposure across the higher education sector through the design of innovative thought leadership programmes
  • Own the marketing and communications budget across corporate and our university partner marketing, demonstrating return on investment on all marketing activity through dashboard reporting 
  • Support account-based marketing methodologies within the marketing team, working closely with Partnership Directors and the Business Development team to seek out opportunities for reputational enhancement and estate expansion across bids and growth of new university partners
  • Support key bid and tender activity through marketing initiatives pre, during and post bid processes
  • Drive positive news and thought leadership to all key external stakeholders; dealing with reactive issues as they arise
  • Lead on the creation and production of our annual and investor reports
  • Work closely with the Head of Research to understand market trends and UPP’s clients’ needs to inform objectives and the overall marketing and external communications strategy

This is a hybrid role based in our award-winning offices near London Bridge and Cannon Street stations.

We are looking for an experienced senior marketing professional with experience of:

  • Leading multi-channel marketing campaigns across B2B with an understanding of the B2C sector
  • Building effective networks and partnerships across organisational boundaries and experience of building external networks across the marketing sector
  • Running social media campaigns across multiple workstreams and understanding of digital channels across the wider landscape
  • Successful leadership through change
  • Operating in a senior level engagement role and working with complex stakeholder sets

You will also have excellent copywriting skills with creative flair in designing end to end marketing campaigns with demonstrable experience of in-house content creation and design, adept at managing multiple complex projects and multiple deadlines, as well as confident presenting and reporting at all levels.

As a small team with key deliverables, you will also have the ability to work both strategically and execute in a fast-paced environment whilst having the passion and creativity to be hands on. External agency resource will be available when required but there is opportunity for someone with big ideas and a passion for the higher education sector to make an impact.
