Head of Software Engineering - London - £120,000 - £140,000

Company Overview: Our client is a pioneering AI startup based in London, committed to revolutionising the advertising industry through innovative technology solutions. With solid seed funding and a promising financial outlook, they are poised for success and are seeking a skilled Head of Software Engineering to join their team.


Role Overview: As the Head of Software Engineering, you will play a crucial role in driving the technical direction of the company. Working closely with the CTO, you will lead a team of 3 developers, guiding them towards excellence in software development. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the cloud CI/CD processes, with a focus on RDS and EDS, to ensure efficient and reliable deployment pipelines. The role will be hands-on for the first 6-9 months, moving slowly more hands off over time, once new recruits are in and the foundation of the team has been laid out.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead the software development lifecycle, from planning and architecture to deployment and maintenance.
  • Mentor and support the engineering team, conducting regular code reviews and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Architect and implement scalable solutions using Python, Golang, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, RDS, EDS, and other relevant technologies.
  • Manage and optimise cloud CI/CD processes to streamline deployment pipelines and enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with the CTO and other stakeholders to align engineering efforts with business objectives.
  • Participate in hiring and onboarding new engineering talent, contributing to the growth and development of the team.


Key Technologies/Attributes/Skills:

  • Proficiency in Python, Golang, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, RDS, EDS, and related technologies.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and mentor team members.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with experience working in cross-functional teams.
  • Deep understanding of cloud CI/CD processes, with a focus on RDS and EDS.
  • Problem-solving mindset and a results-driven approach to delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
