Full Job Description

We are working with a leading independent specialist in aerodynamic research, seeking a Health and Safety Advisor (SHE) for their Bedford based location.  This is a full-time site-based role, salary up to £40,000 + 7% pension and excellent benefits. 

As a Health, Safety and Environment Advisor, you will be responsible for providing competent and professional safety, health and environmental (SHE) advice and support in a wide range of activities and projects with an emphasis on construction design management.

In your new role as Health, Safety and Environment Advisor role, you will :

  • Support the development, maintenance and/or deployment of SHE management systems
  • Provide competent and comprehensive SHE advice and support to Managers within the business, enabling them to manage SHE within their area/s of responsibility effectively
  • Proactively investigate incidents, determining the root cause and any corrective actions required
  • Assist in the planned modernisation of the site involving construction, design management, (CDM).
  • Assist in the creation and review of suitable and sufficient risk assessments and method statements for all areas of the business and from customers and contractors

To apply for this Health, Safety and Environment Advisor role, you must be visible across the business and an advocate, providing advice and guidance to the workforce on all SHE matters and be a key influencer in delivering the SHE visions within the organisation. You will also require the following:

  • NEBOSH General certificate or equivalent
  • NEBOS Environmental Certificate or equivalent, with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience within a similar role and industry
  • Knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, CDM Regulations would be advantageous, for construction projects / planned modernisation of site.  
  • Comprehensive and technical understanding of SHE management standards and practices and relevant HSE regulatory knowledge
  • An in-depth understanding of internal and external best practices
