Highway Design Engineer - Huntingdon
28 days annual leave plus bank holidays / Flexible
working (40% office, 60% home)
Our client is
seeking an experienced Highway Design Engineer to join their
engineering design team in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. Reporting to a
Senior Engineer, you will be an integral part of a small and dynamic
highway design team, working alongside Engineers, Assistant Engineers,
and Technicians.
In this role, you will be responsible for
contributing to a wide range of highway schemes, including major road
improvement projects, junction improvements, and the design of local
cycling infrastructure and active travel schemes. Additionally, you
will have the unique opportunity to collaborate closely with the
construction delivery team, ensuring seamless integration between
design and operational aspects.
Key
Responsibilities:
- Deliver projects within agreed timeframes and budget, ensuring compliance with internal quality standards and processes.
- Create design packages, reports, and other deliverables to achieve desired project outcomes.
- Conduct site visits, surveys, and investigations as required.
- Manage resources and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, including sub-consultants.
- Utilize design software, such as AutoCAD, Civils 3D, and MicroDrainage.
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental legislation.
- Provide technical training, supervision, and peer mentoring.
- Collaborate effectively with clients and stakeholders to understand and develop project objectives.
Job Requirements:
- Hold a degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent, and be a professionally qualified/highly experienced engineer working towards IEng/CEng.
- Possess UK design and construction experience within the highway sector, preferably with a Local Highway Authority.
- Exhibit knowledge of design software such as AutoCAD, Civils 3D, as well as drainage, alignment, and traffic sign design.
- Demonstrate familiarity with design standards including DMRB & MCDHW.
- Show commercial awareness in delivering projects.
- Provide evidence of managing Health, Safety & Welfare and Environment in design and construction.
- Have proficiency in Microsoft packages such as Excel and Word.
