Are you a dedicated and compassionate individual seeking to make a meaningful impact? If so, BRC is currently recruiting for an Independent Advocate to join a passionate charity. Their mission is to provide unwavering support to vulnerable individuals, particularly those facing mental health challenges within inpatient mental health services. They strive to ensure that service users have access to the financial assistance they require.

Role Overview: As an Independent Advocate, you will play a pivotal role in empowering service users. Your responsibilities will include working closely with two key vulnerable groups: veterans and individuals affected by mental health conditions in a hospital environment. Collaborating with external agencies, you will assess individual needs and proactively advocate for financial support on their behalf.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitating Benefit Access:
  • Ensuring clients can access the correct benefits, including Personal Independence Payment (PIP).
  • Smooth Transitions from Hospital to Home:
  • Supporting individuals during their transition from hospital to home, minimizing financial complexities.
  • Client Advocacy and Voice Amplification:
  • Advocating for clients, ensuring their voices are heard and needs addressed.
  • Exploring Financial Support Options:
  • Assisting clients in exploring various financial support avenues available to them.
  • Issue Resolution and Escalation:
  • Identifying and addressing any issues faced by service users, escalating when necessary.
  • Universal Credit and DWP Assistance:
  • Ensuring clients access Universal Credit and relevant Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) services.
  • Tailored Holistic Support:
  • Providing a holistic approach, tailoring support to individual client needs.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Experience:  You will be required to have a strong knowledge of the benefit system, and to have worked with vulnerable individuals within the sector previously.
  • Confidence:  Ability to support individuals with complex needs.
  • Communication:  Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team Player:  Collaborate effectively within a streamlined team.
  • Relationship Building:  Establish and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Compassionate Listening:  Show empathy and understanding.
  • Values-Driven:  This charity challenges societal stigmas and provides nonjudgmental support.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to an organization that strives to make a meaningful impact. If you’re passionate about making a difference, we encourage you to apply. You’ll be supported by a dedicated team and play a vital role in transforming lives.
