Full Job Description

Introduction

As an IPS Supervisor, you will work as part of an integrated team within headspace Tamworth/ Centacare NENW and lead a team to provide vocational assistance (i.e. assist with employment and education outcomes) to young people with mental health issues up to and including the age of 25 within the Tamworth and Gunnedah regions. The IPS Supervisor and Vocational Specialists help address barriers to employment and education faced by their clients, meaning assessment, planning, networking, cold-canvassing, administration and training skills are required. The successful applicant will contribute to the development of the service including evaluation and reporting activities and ensuring the service performs well on the Supported Employment Fidelity Scale. This role requires a dynamic person who can build the strong working relationships, team and networks needed to achieve the desired employment and educational outcomes for clients.

Remuneration

This position operates under the Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Award on a level 6 ($51.90/hr - $54.19/hr)

About The Role 

Working as part of our team some key responsibilities include but is not limited to:

  • Lead, manage, support and develop a team of Vocational Specialists working within a clinical, therapy based setting alongside a multidisciplinary team ensuring that the service performs well (at least 100 points or higher) on the Supported Employment Fidelity Scale;
  • Provide client focussed support to a caseload of up to 12 clients and support Vocational Specialists to build their skills in helping clients overcome barriers and to obtain and maintain employment;
  • Build and maintain extensive contacts and partnerships with employers, training providers, educational institutions, community service organisations and other health professionals;
  • Prepare financial and other reports for funding bodies and internal stakeholders e.g. the Centacare NENW Board;
  • Follow and implement Centacare NENW policies and procedures, including those related to work health and safety (WHS) and equal employment opportunities (EEO);

Essential Criteria

  • Relevant qualification and at least 2 years relevant experience in vocational/ employment services, youth or social work, community services or similar OR significant relevant experience in vocational/employment services or similar;
  • Demonstrated strong team leadership, conflict resolution and negotiation skills and high emotional intelligence required to lead a high performing team that meets key performance indicators, including against a quality assurance framework such as the Supported Employment Fidelity Scale;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and effectively utilise partnerships and networks with external parties including local employers, employment service providers, Centrelink, employment initiatives and other relevant services;
  • Strong ability to support clients with mental health issues obtain, maintain and progress employment, including strong resume development, job application, cold-canvassing, job interview and career development training skills and strong ability to support Vocational Specialists further develop these skills;
  • Strong administration skills and effective skills to train other team members on administration and information technology systems and software used in the service;
  • Current Working with Children Check or ability to obtain, ability to pass a criminal history check, current NSW drivers licence and ability and willingness to travel in the region.
