Software Engineer / Quantitative Developer Internship

We are seeking talented students with an interest in quant Analytics to intern in an early-stage team building cutting-edge equities quant technology.

This is a rare opportunity to join an early-stage project with an experienced, close-knit team at a well-established, highly reputable firm. You will enjoy a flat team structure with opportunities to take ownership of projects from the outset. You will interact with front-office decision makers such as portfolio managers and traders on a regular basis. You will join a team of quants and quant developers and will be expected to rapidly ramp your knowledge of the relevant quant models and techniques, so a background in a numerate discipline is an advantage.

Job description & key responsibilities

  • Refining, and increasing automation and robustness of the research infrastructure including alpha estimation, risk modelling, and back testing components.
  • Developing robust data checking and storage procedures.
  • Contributing to the proprietary library that supports the various research frameworks.
  • Productionising prototype models and tools that assist in the investment process, so that they are scalable, robust, and performant.
  • Identifying and implementing generalisations and abstractions of existing research frameworks, reducing turnaround on new research.

Placement opportunity open to MEng Computing students (6 months internship)

Candidate profile

  • Students in their penultimate year studying towards a quantitative discipline (Computer Science, Mathematics)

 

  • Familiarity/interest in coding in one or more of Python, R, C++, C# or similar
  • Interest in application of technology within the financial markets, interest in quant and systematic approaches to investment
  • Experience and understanding of various tooling (build, source control, project management issue tracking) and software development lifecycle processes.
  • Excellent collaboration skills, must work well as part of a team

This is an industry partnership with imperial college London and is only open to applications from students associated with Imperial College London and the Department of Computing.  Applications from students at other universities will not be considered on this posting.
