Oliver Wyman – Insurance Finance & Risk team – All levels across Europe, with particular emphasis on Associate and Engagement Manager

PRACTICE OVERVIEW

Oliver Wyman’s Insurance and Asset Management (IAM) practice draws upon our industry expertise, strategic thinking, analytical insight, and market-leading intellectual capital to create value for leading property and casualty, life, and health insurers, reinsurers and asset managers We also help private capital clients to identify and evaluate opportunities in the insurance space to deliver superior returns on their funds.

Our clients CROs and CFOs (as well as broader C-suite), we work on their most challenging questions in finance, risk, and capital management. The practice is growing rapidly, and now wishes to add talented and motivated individuals to the high-calibre team.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

We offer specialized industry knowledge and expertise that amplifies our impact and shapes the future for our clients. Our team members in the Insurance department are all specialists in the field. This role is a part of our Insurance and Asset Management practice, focusing primarily on Finance & Risk for Insurers and Asset Managers (FRIAM). We closely collaborate with colleagues from Oliver Wyman Actuarial, ensuring a seamless integration of expertise and knowledge.

This is an exceptional opportunity to join our dynamic IAM team during an exciting period of expansion across Europe, with a specific focus on Finance and Risk work. We invite candidates at all levels to apply but put particular emphasis on junior and senior manager positions (Associate to Engagement Manager at Oliver Wyman).


SENIOR CONSULTANTS have enough experience to ask the right questions, frame hypothesis and initiate research to find the answers. As a Senior Consultant, you will be shaping the problems that we work on and developing specialized expertise that others will seek out.


ASSOCIATES break down complex problems into discrete tasks, identifying the key aspects of a problem and directing the focus of junior consultants to those elements. You will effectively plan and execute analysis as well as identify the core issues in complex analyses in order to be able to craft suitable recommendations. You will work side by side with clients and your project team members to move projects forward and manage small teams to get the work done. Associates have strong analytical and synthesis skills and ability to conduct and leverage sophisticated analyses, draw conclusions, and present recommendations.


ENGAGEMENT MANAGERS are the on-scene leaders who run our projects day to day. You will lead the team through an efficient and effective problem-solving process from initial thought process through convergence on a solution. You will ensure that recommendations are correct, practical, sensible, relevant and cohesive. It’s a role that demands thought leadership at the strategic level – and command of all the technical and operational details of execution. You will need great communication skills and the ability to forge strong relationships.


DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Just as every client project is different, so we recognize and value the diversity of backgrounds and skill sets for successful candidates. We are seeking high-calibre individuals who want to join our winning team. Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience – ideally working on Finance & Risk topics for insurers and asset managers at a top-tier consulting firm / Big 4
  • Proven track record in project management, coupled with strong experience in effectively managing teams
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills in both formal and informal settings
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of finance and / or risk management topics, including technical aspects such as Solvency II internal models
  • Strong initiative and drive to seek out opportunities to learn new skills and putting existing ones to good use
  • Demonstrated creativity and capability of generating innovative ideas to solve our clients' most pressing challenges
  • Undergraduate or advanced degree from a top academic program
