INTERIM Chief Executive Officer


We have an exciting opportunity for an Interim Chief Executive Officer to oversee the management of the operations of a small Youth charity in London.


Position: Chief Executive Officer (Maternity cover)

Location: London/Hybrid

Salary: Circa £50k - £60k per annum

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week


About the role:


As Chief Executive Officer you will be working for a London based charity that supports the lives of young people with learning disabled and autism. You will have responsibility for the management of the operations of the charity as well as working towards their overall vision and strategy.


About you:


We are seeking an inspirational and experienced leader with the skills and knowledge to manage this incredible charity; you will need to bring with you the following skills and experience:


  • Experience creating new and improving existing services for the benefit of the young people.
  • Proven track record of collaborating with the Board and SLT to accomplish the organisations goals, plans, and business strategy while making sure the Board carries out its duties in the governance of the charity.
  • A track record of leading teams of employees, volunteers, and associates and providing a secure, efficient, enjoyable service to all of its members and their families.
  • Competence in recognising and evaluating strategic risks, issues, and opportunities, as well as taking the initiative and steering related changes with trustee agreement.
  • Understanding of Trust & Foundations & corporate fundraising.
  • Experience building the charity's business plan, aiming for long-term sustainability, and optimising revenue from sources such service contracts, earned income, and fundraising.
  • Experience in management of Financial Control and Governance.
  • Knowledge of building compliance and management; collaboration with the finance and facilities officer to guarantee that regular inspections are conducted, and the building is kept up to date within a budget.


Other duties include:


  • Day-to-day management of the charities service.
  • Monthly Youth Government meetings attendance and making sure the voice of the youth is always amplified.
  • Liaising with external agencies and create new opportunities for youth leadership.
  • To develop and maintain positive relationships with private sector donors, statutory, partners and funding organisations.
  • To develop and maintain positive relationships with partners, local businesses, funders, and other voluntary organisations, building alliances and networks to further the work of the charity.
