Full Job Description

We are pleased to be working with a well-known global pharmaceutical company to help them recruit a Data Protection Manager on a 12-month fixed term contract .


You will work on a range of cutting-edge privacy challenges that spread across the companies online and mobile platforms. You will need to demonstrate pragmatic decision-making and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.


Key responsibilities


  • Provide expert data protection advice, supporting the DPO and the business. In all matters, ensure the business is advised promptly, proactively, commercially and pragmatically to help the business be as effective as possible in achieving its strategy, vision and purpose.
  • Keeping up to date with changes in data protection law and regulations and leading the implementation of any required changes.
  • Training employees on all relevant GDPR and code of practice requirements.
  • Preparing responses / completing questionnaires outlining the Group’s position on data protection queries.
  • Conducting regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance.


About you


  • Experienced in working in-house; able to demonstrate an understanding of the in-house role, its pace, demands and requirements.
  • A degree in law, computer science or other area relevant to data protection, or equivalent.
  • CIPP(E) (Certified Information Privacy Professional (Europe) preferred but not essential.
  • A second language (ideally French, German, Italian, Russian, Spanish or Japanese) is advantageous but not required.
  • Possess good experience and understanding alongside practical application of GDPR, UK GDPR and UK Data Protection Act.
  • Good knowledge of OneTrust platform and previous experience in creating, updating various assessments in OneTrust.
  • Understanding of EU AI act and other related AI laws, practices and impact of personal data processing.
  • Previous experience in a compliance, data protection and/or privacy role required, preferably in the pharmaceutical sector.
  • Experienced in supporting on other aspects of data protection work and compliance, such as data mapping and governance documentation and reporting.
