The group invests from Seed to Series B on a UK and Global basis, currently deploying active strategies in Climate Change, Engineering Biology, Defence and Security, Ocean Economy, and Nuclear Fusion.

The portfolio includes the likes of Barinthus Biotech (NASDAQ), 23andMe (NASDAQ), Tokamak Energy, PragmatIC Semiconductor, Tropic Bio, CellCentric, Rovco, Nuclera, Regent Craft, Synthace and Captura.

What’s the Role?

The Global Ventures team is around a third of Future Planet Capital’s AUM, investing in technology and entrepreneurs emerging from global centres of innovation. Formed in 2016, the team has been deploying around the likes of Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard and MIT, where a new generation of entrepreneurs are aligning shareholders, people and the planet around technologies and business models with planetary-scale potential.

Launched in 2022, the team are currently deploying a Blue Ocean strategy, at the intersection of climate change, sustainability and the ocean – one of our critical, but overlooked resources.

The team are looking for an Investment Director to work alongside the team to deploy current dry powder and build out the global ventures platform. The role will be multi-faceted and requires someone who is excited by the prospect of fundraising and building the firm long-term, as well as the investment process. Successful candidates will also have the opportunity to work with and develop the existing portfolio, and take board and observer positions.

Who are you?

This is a rare chance to join a fund and shape the fundraising as well as investing process and would suit someone who is seeking the chance to step up to a leadership role.

The role will suit someone with a passion and understanding for early-stage investments in a market which ideally complements our current team. Areas of particular interest might include ClimateTech, Blue Economy, and DeepTech.

  • a strong founder track record, or 5 years + investment experience, ideally within VC
  • record allocating resources and returning value through growth in a fund or business
  • interest and flair for innovation, particularly within science & technology
  • within a small, dynamic team with the ability to balance own workload
  • people skills, someone who can work with others and influence where needed.
