Description

The launch of our Modern Languages courses in January 2024 is the next exciting step in our development. We plan to deliver an exceptional modern languages course programme that reflects the same high standards we have for our English courses. We are looking for dedicated and experienced Modern Language Teachers to join our team and facilitate language courses for adult learners. Details on the Modern Language courses: 

We will run face to face classes for adults from Monday to Thursday from 18:00 to 20:00 at our school in Holand Park. The courses will start on the 8th of January 2024. We are planning to also broaden our offer to online classes in the near future. The classes have a maximum of 10 students. 

Job Description: 

We are seeking enthusiastic, highly professional and driven teachers for Spanish, French, Italian, Mandarin and Japanese to join our team and lead our students in achieving their results without the pressure of grades or exams. Your role will involve creating a supportive and enjoyable learning environment that promotes language acquisition and cultural exploration. This is a remarkable opportunity for the right candidate to make a significant impact on our new Modern Language division. 

Main duties and responsibilities: 

  • Course Development: Develop and design courses that align with the interests and goals of adult learners. These courses should focus on practical language skills and cultural enrichment using the target language throughout. 
  • Resource Development: Curate and develop teaching materials, resources, and multimedia content that enhance the learning experience and focus on practising the language. 
  • Interactive Teaching: Implement creative and engaging teaching methods that encourage active participation, conversation, and real-world language use.  
  • Conversation Facilitation: Create opportunities for learners to engage in authentic conversations in the target language, fostering practical language skills. 
  • Differentiation: Be able to help students with special educational needs (SEN) such as dyslexia or colour-blindness by differentiating the material when/if needed. 
  • Cultural Integration: Integrate cultural elements and activities into the curriculum to provide learners with a deeper understanding of the language's context and culture. 
  • Feedback and Reflection: Provide constructive feedback and guidance to learners while promoting a non-judgmental and growth-oriented atmosphere. 
  • Community Building: Foster a sense of community among learners, encouraging collaboration, peer support, and cultural exchange. Recognize and respect the diverse needs, motivations, and backgrounds of adult learners. 
  • Professional Development: Stay current with modern language teaching methodologies and adult education trends through ongoing professional development opportunities. 


Requirements

Qualifications & Experience: 

The ideal candidate is a native speaker of the language taught, but a highly proficient level will also be taken under consideration. The candidate must offer a proven track record in successfully running adult language courses in Universities or Language schools' environments and actively engaging with students. 

Essential 

  • Right to work in the UK 
  • A C2 level in the target language 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English 
  • A University bachelor's degree 
  • A Modern Language teaching certification (CLTA, DITALS, CTCSOL, TCSOL, etc.) or relevant language teaching credentials. 
  • At least 3 years' experience as a Modern Language teacher for adult learners. 
  • Experience of all types or provisions e.g., face to face and online teaching, groups and one to one. 
  • Flexible, resilient, and organised 
  • Ability to inspire students 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Ability to create a relaxed, supportive, and non-judgmental learning atmosphere. 

Desirable:  

  • A University degree in the target language (master's degree preferred). 
  • A University degree in Modern Language Teaching 
  • Native in the language taught 
  • Experience of Teacher training e.g., CLTA training
