A Junior Immigration Consultant is expected to have an excellent attitude, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to learn more about German immigration law and become an expert in the field. Proficiency in the German language is preferred. The Junior Immigration Consultant is expected to be able to do the straight forward cases, such as a complying highly skilled migrant or an intra company transfer application fully independently. Next to that, the Junior Immigration Consultant, must be able to sponge off of a Senior Immigration Consultant, study up and follow courses/ training in order to get ahead in the German immigration world. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Inbound Immigration in the UK  

  • Assess the options for a residence- and/or work permit based on provided information by the client. In case of difficult cases, do this together with a Senior Consultant;
  • Draft comprehensive advice on the basis immigration topics and with the help of a Senior Immigration Consultant draft an advice on more difficult immigration matters;
  • Preferably has some connections within the German immigration world; 
  • Prepare and submit various government forms and supporting documentation as required by the relevant government agencies; 
  • Coordinate administrative and legal operations regarding immigration matters for specific clients;
  • Be able to have a simple legal discussion on immigration topics with government agencies, colleagues and clients and explain basic German immigration law in laymen terms; 
  • Able to advice clients also on risks that they might not be aware of and thus be proactive in selling Newland Chase services;
  • Maintain extensive files, including internal and external databases (as required by the client) containing all immigration related data managed by Newland Chase, including but not limited to their current residence- and/or work permit status and updates pertaining to any ongoing processes using company software.; 
  • Log all activity in company software.; 
  • Is a team player, works well with international and internal stakeholders, shows sensitivity to the organization and its business goals;
  • Handles sensitive clients and is sincerely interested in the contact person at the client and the employee and can therefore also show the human aspect of the business; 
  • Is able and knows when to pick up the phone to explain something to the client and/or the employee instead of using e-mail all the time;
  • Is eager to learn more about German immigration laws and regulations and wishes to become a leading expert. 

  Communication & Feedback  

  • Acts as the main point of contact and provides assistance to clients regarding immigration issues and asks for assistance of a Senior Immigration Consultant when needed; 
  • Manages a different caseloads on behalf of different clients;
  • Knows how to talk to and handle specific clients, becomes the go to person for many for advice related to German immigration matters; 
  • Develop and maintain clear time line deliverables for each case and is therefore able to manage expectations clearly. 

Finance  

  • Complete timely and accurate billing for every case. 

Reports  

  • Manage client specific reports outlining the current application and/or residence- and/or work permit status, fees to date and ongoing actions being performed.

Travel  

  • Travel nationally and internationally if required for the business and/or the clients.

General  

  • Other duties as assigned.

 
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:   

  1. At least a Bachelor's degree from four-year college or 3 years university, preferably in the area of law;
  2. One to two years paralegal or international related experience and/or training;
  3. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 
Language Ability (English & German):  

  1. Ability to read, analyse, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; 
  2. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; 
  3. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, employees and the general public 

Math Ability:  

  1. Add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s 
  2. Ability to perform these operations using units of various currencies; 
  3. Able to read a simple annual statement to check the solvency and continuity of a company.

 
Reasoning Ability:   

  1. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; 
  2. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions; 
  3. Think outside the box and be pragmatic instead of solely theoretical.

Computer Skills:   

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Adobe, Skype, Teams, Zoom and the portals of the immigration authorities.
