We’re passionate about improving the future for our customers, our communities and the environment. If you are too, join us as our LEVI (Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure) Project Support and make a huge and meaningful impact. Your innovation and drive will help us to continue improving and evolving.

Reimagine the possibilities.

Your role and responsibilities

This is an exciting opportunity to join the LEVI project team, that works with other Local Authorities and organisations, to drive modal shift towards electric vehicles; as part of our collective efforts to decarbonise transport across Suffolk and create a healthier, low-carbon environment for all our residents.

After being awarded initial ‘capability’ funding from LEVI, our project team was formed; we are now looking forward to the delivery of a major capital programme of charging infrastructure.  We want to ensure all of Suffolk’s diverse communities are engaged with the project, and you will play a key role in helping us ensure this happens.

Your day-to-day tasks and responsibilities will focus on supporting the delivery of the project through managing community engagement and consultations, delivering pop-up events around the county, turning your creative skills to support marketing and communications, and providing regular input into project reporting.

Working closely with the wider Environment Strategy Team, you will be supported by a talented and varied team of professionals who are all willing to help you succeed.

The team works flexibly to support a healthy work-life balance and embraces hybrid working where this improves efficiency in the delivery of our shared objectives.

This role is externally funded by the Government’s LEVI scheme as part of our work on climate change)*

What you will need

With a degree (or clear evidence of an equivalent level of skill and knowledge) in a relevant subject such as environmental science, geography, sustainability, or social science. What we really hope you’ll bring are your passions for sustainability and equality in service delivery. These passions will help you ensure that none of Suffolk’s communities are left behind as we collectively shift toward electric mobility.  We welcome applications from applicants from diverse backgrounds and fresh perspectives.

Our ideal candidate will be well organised, with a project management background and some experience in creative stakeholder and community engagement, particularly with regard to hard-to-reach groups.  You will also need to relish those day-to-day administrative tasks that help a project run smoothly, such as handling correspondence, collating feedback from consultations, and helping the project manager produce project reports.

You can view a full list of requirements in the Job and Person Profile (docx) . If you believe you can succeed in this role, apply. Even if you don't meet all requirements, still apply. We would appreciate the opportunity to consider your application.

The team

The LEVI project sits within the Council’s Environment Strategy Team; together, we are leading the Council’s response to the Climate Emergency.  We are supporting the change required within the Council and enabling communities, businesses, and partner organisations to transition to a low-carbon economy in line with the ambition to achieve net zero emissions by 2030.

We are motivated as a team by our passion for the environment and our collective drive to tackle some of the biggest challenges facing society today; in particular, climate change and unprecedented biodiversity loss.  Much of our work is delivered in the form of projects supported by funding from the government and other external partners; there is thus a strong spirit of collaborative working.

You will be surrounded by colleagues with backgrounds in project management, technology, community engagement, and environmental expertise. You will also have the opportunity to connect with many partner organisations in the course of your work, such as the Borough and District Councils, government departments, and a range of Suffolk’s diverse community organisations.

We are sociable, friendly, and highly committed to securing positive outcomes for the environment and for Suffolk’s communities.

Empowering Everyone

We’re big believers in potential, possibility and the power of different ideas. We’re always searching for ways to encourage, respect and enable everyone to be the best they can be. We aim to include all communities we serve in our representation. To achieve this, we encourage applications from everyone.
