Job Summary: Reporting to the AWES Field Operations Manager within the AWES Training department, providing line management responsibility for a team of training analyst personnel.  The Exercise Project Delivery Manager will provide leadership and oversight for the delivery of CDUK live, virtual and constructive (LVC) AWES Exercise delivery projects, principally across the UK, and Europe and other global opportunities when presented.  The position plays a crucial role in advancing CDUK core contract AWES project delivery in the collaboration, control and coordination of Exercise Control (EXCON) during discrete training events.  Critical to the success of this role is building relationships and providing staffing prowess for EXCON outputs (After Action Review (AAR)) and contract deliverables.  This position typically works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority and interact with both internal and external stakeholders. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: A key member of the AWES leadership team; lead, direct and manage the training analyst teams and perform coaching/counseling sessions with staff to increase motivation and solve problem situations. Support AWES Field Operations Manager to ensure AWES contract is delivered coherently and efficiently. Participate on business development and project proposals to develop concepts, layouts, budgets and written documentation needed to meet the requirements identified in and for proposal(s). Lead on innovative pathways for Business Development initiatives on new contracts and Category A – D MoD programmes (such as the £1Bn Collective Training Transformation Programme (CTTP)). Support business development, sales and marketing initiatives as required in the UK, Europe and globally. Primary point of contact and key liaison with the Army’s Training Group staff, and 3rd party contractors on exercise planning and delivery for EXCON pre, during and post exercise / training events. Responsible for training and exercise event(s) delivery outputs at the point of delivery (EXCON), monitoring events at the Battlegroup - Division levels in direct support of the Exercise Director, to develop and produce analytical input for AAR production. Management of EXCON working environment to include Key Performance Indicators (KPI) analysis, coordination with Systems and Network teams, Training Analysts and delivery outputs (maintaining Army license to operate, safety and AAR analysis). As required, lead and manage discrete small order training opportunities or business development tasks with UK and Overseas based travel. Planning and delivery of assigned projects; responsible for management of resources allocated and technical Objectives and Key Results (OKRs). Supports development of product technology improvement plans to meet emerging customer requirements or obsolescence. In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by their manager from time-to-time, as may be reasonably required of them. Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Combat or Combat Support former Army officer (Maj – Lt Col), current and competent in military and doctrinal training processes with a pedigree in collective training, training design (TNA) requirements, capture and DSAT processes.
  • Military Staff College attendance and qualified.
  • Proven experience in LVC synthetic training systems employed within defence training and technology sectors and an understanding of technical requirements integrated into military training.
  • Applicable and demonstrable experience in understanding data analytics and the application of data to drive performance measurement and improvements.
  • Proven experience of leadership credentials and an ability to work collaboratively within a matrix environment.
  • Qualities, values and attributes important for the success in this role include, strong communication (verbally and written) skills, analytical, numerical, and reasoning abilities, effective interpersonal skills necessary to interact on delicate, sensitive, and/or complex situations and possessing a passion for achieving results by building trusted relationships with stakeholders both internal and external.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and abroad for short periods of time to participate in CDUK LVC delivery requirements.
