Role Overview:


As the Lead Data Analyst, you will work across Arden & GEM’s Central Data Flows and Contracting team to lead on national datasets to develop commissioning data flows and insights. In this pivotal role you will deliver a high quality, responsive and efficient information service supporting customer objectives through delivery of analysis and insight.

Role Scope:


  • Full-Time Hours: This is a full-time position with a standard workweek of 37.5 hours.
  • Fixed Term Position: Join our team on a fixed term basis to 31.03.25

Key Responsibilities:


  • Developing Processes: To identify, define and develop processes for new data sets, working closely with the Data and Development team to embed processing within the data warehouse, reporting through the Arden & GEM BI system and with local teams to ensure consistent delivery of high quality of analysis.
  • Service Delivery: To work with contracting and information colleagues, identifying opportunity to deliver services at scale through a streamlined approach to support customers in commissioning and improvement of health care services.
  • Data Analysis: To perform interrogation and analysis on a range of data sets, using Arden & GEM BI tools and other BI products as appropriate, to deliver insight and intelligence to customers.
  • Data Quality: To deliver a data quality programme ensuring that data available is accurate, complete, and fit for purpose.
  • Information: Expertly analyse and make sense of intricate information from a variety of sources, aiming to drive project progress with well-informed decisions.
  • Stakeholders: Maintain strong and clear lines of communication with all stakeholders, ensuring an atmosphere of openness and efficient exchange of information.


Knowledge and Skills:


  • Educational Achievement: Hold a degree in a numerate or informatics subject or demonstrating equivalent significant experience in delivery of the responsibilities described.
  • Data Analysis: Proven track record in analysis of NHS information and data flows to support commissioning of healthcare.
  • Knowledge: Experience of using visual analytics platforms Tableau and Power BI. Experience in SQL query development, data manipulation, and performance optimisation to retrieve and transform data from various sources.
  • Project Management Methodologies: A robust grasp of project management frameworks such as Agile, Waterfall, and MSP, with a preference for those familiar with their application in healthcare projects.
  • Organisational Excellence: Outstanding ability to organise, prioritise, and manage tasks and deadlines, particularly in fast-paced and complex environments.
  • Communication Skills: High proficiency in both written and verbal communication and stakeholder engagement, with the ability to negotiate on difficult and controversial issues. Be able to communicate technical language to a non- technical audience.
  • Healthcare Insight: A solid understanding of the health and social care landscape, including policy, governance, and operational challenges in the NHS.
