WHAT TO EXPECT

JLR currently have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced project management based engineer, with experience in working with chassis/brakes to oversee the end to end brakes commodity. The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for the delivery of foundation brake and brake actuation hardware and software for a selected range of Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) vehicles. This fantastic opportunity will allow you to get involved with multiple projects across all the JLR vehicle brands.

They will be responsible for the development and delivery of various foundation brake and brake actuation components (brakes discs, calliper, pad, brake lines & hoses, brackets, shields and parking brake), as well as any associated software control (Parking brake library, calibration) from the design phase to J1.

The successful will be required to exhibit exceptional project management abilities to ensure that all engineering activities are identified and acted upon in a timely manner. The engineer will be responsible for creating RFI/RFQ packs to deliver to suppliers and take a lead in supplier negotiations and sourcing. They will be required to create and maintain accurate commodity plans and work closely with cross functional to ensure smooth delivery of the foundation brakes into the whole vehicle.

The role will require robust management of tier 1 suppliers, to ensure delivery is achieved for all project milestones to the relevant targets.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Deliver the foundation brake hardware components and software to quality, cost and time, in interaction with the brake attribute leader and brake test engineer.
  • Lead supplier interactions including PMST meetings, RFI/RFQ, engineering issue resolution etc.
  • Own and deliver the Engineering Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) deliverables.
  • Manage Change Request, expenditure forecasting and the relevant supplier teams in support of delivery of the programme milestones.
  • Manage parts issue resolution, ensuring robust root cause analysis is carried out and track issues through to successful fix.
  • Keep all Module documentation up to date including:
    • Meeting minutes
    • Commodity plans
    • Release documentation
    • DFMEA/PFMEA

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Demonstrable engineering project management experience.
  • Exceptional experience in managing tier 1 suppliers.
  • Previous experience delivering chassis or brakes engineering commodities.
  • Strong experience in an automotive engineering environment
  • Relevant knowledge of the different foundation brake and brake actuation components.
  • Ability to negotiate technical solutions within a multi-disciplinary team and will have the ability to manage conflict and balance opposing programme demands.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
