Lecturer in Religion and Literature

Grade UE08: £45,585 to £54,395 per annum (A revised salary range for this grade of £48,350 to £59,421 is planned to take effect from Spring 2024) 

College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences / School of Divinity  

Full-time: 35 hours per week 

Open-ended contract: permanent

The Opportunity:  

The School of Divinity seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Religion and Literature. The lectureship will contribute to teaching and research in the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Religion and Literature, with a focus on one or more of literary theory, post-colonialism, feminism or LGBT+ perspectives. A regional interest in African, Asian, or Caribbean literature or demonstration of extending the offer within Religion & Literature in other ways is welcome. 

Your skills and attributes for success:   

• An earned doctorate in a relevant academic discipline, conferred by date of agreed employment.  
• Proven ability to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and a commitment to excellence in teaching.  
• A developed area of research and evident progress in achieving quality original research publications commensurate with your career stage.  
• Honest, reliable, highly motivated, adhering to high academic standards, cooperative with academic and administrative colleagues.  
• A commitment to increasing equality, diversity and inclusion. 
• Sensitivity to students from a wide range of cultural and ethnic backgrounds, and of various age-levels, and of various faith commitments or none.
