Grade UE08: £45,585 to £54,395 per annum (A revised salary range for this grade of £48,350 to £59,421 is planned to take effect from Spring 2024)

College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences/School of Divinity  

Full-time: 35 hours per week

Open-ended contract: permanent

The Opportunity:  

The School of Divinity seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Science and Religion. The lectureship will contribute to teaching and research in the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Science and Religion, with a focus on one or more of Philosophy of Science/Philosophy of Religion, Science and World Religions, AI & Technology, or Cognitive Science. The candidate will be required to lead the online programme for Philosophy, Science and Religion (recently taken over from Philosophy). Competence outside of specifically Christian theology is welcome for the growing inter-religious work in the field of science and religion. 

Your skills and attributes for success:  

• An earned doctorate in a relevant academic discipline, conferred by date of agreed employment.  
• Proven ability to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and a commitment to excellence in teaching.  
• A developed area of research and evident progress in achieving quality original research publications commensurate with your career stage.  
• Honest, reliable, highly motivated, adhering to high academic standards, cooperative with academic and administrative colleagues.  
• A commitment to increasing equality, diversity and inclusion. 
• Sensitivity to students from a wide range of cultural and ethnic backgrounds, and of various age-levels, and of various faith commitments or none.
