Locum Band 6 Paediatric Physiotherapist

We are looking for an experienced Band 6 Paediatric Physiotherapist. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience of carrying out a range of assessments and procedures in order to identify and address the therapeutic needs of the children and families we serve. To be able to evidence the ability to set patient and family centred clinical goals, using clinical outcome measures to evidence interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

Assessment and Evaluation:

  • Conduct comprehensive physiotherapy assessments to evaluate the physical abilities, motor skills, and functional limitations of paediatric patients.
  • Utilize standardized assessments and clinical observations to inform treatment planning.

Treatment Planning and Implementation:

  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, considering the unique needs and goals of each paediatric patient.
  • Implement evidence-based physiotherapy interventions to address developmental delays, neuromuscular conditions, and musculoskeletal issues.

Family-Centered Care:

  • Collaborate closely with parents, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a family-centered approach to care.
  • Provide education to families regarding home exercise programs and strategies to support their child's physical development.

Therapeutic Interventions:

  • Administer a variety of therapeutic interventions, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and assistive devices, to promote motor development and functional independence.
  • Incorporate play-based and creative activities into treatment sessions to engage and motivate paediatric patients.

Monitoring and Progress Evaluation:

  • Regularly monitor and reassess the progress of paediatric patients, adjusting treatment plans as needed to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Document all assessments, interventions, and progress notes in accordance with professional and organizational standards.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with occupational therapists, speech therapists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide integrated care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and coordinate care plans.

Parent and Staff Education:

  • Provide education and training to parents, caregivers, and school staff on strategies to support paediatric patients in various settings.
  • Collaborate with schools and community resources to facilitate a seamless continuum of care.

Professional Development:

  • Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in paediatric physiotherapy.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development activities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physiotherapy.
  • Current registration with the relevant physiotherapy regulatory body.
  • Significant experience in paediatric physiotherapy.
  • Strong clinical reasoning and assessment skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
