Machine Operator

Full Job Description

My well-established Engineering client based in Reading is looking to recruit a Machine Operator on a full-time permanent basis. Candidates will ideally have previous engineering / manufacturing experience and be familiar with engineering practices, machine health & safety and equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Operate engineering machinery to produce metal parts/products.
• Be responsible for the quality of parts produced and ensure they conform to company standards and product drawings.
• Run machines to achieve cycle times as recorded on the route cards.
• Assist Setter/Team Leader in improving changeover times, machine running efficiencies and tooling set ups.
• Transportation of goods within the factory, assisting with stock checks and general housekeeping within the manufacturing site.

Ideal Candidate:

• Experience operating machines within an engineering or manufacturing environment (CNC or manual machinery).
• Hold a current Forklift licence – Counterbalance (or have sufficient experience on this).
• Have general engineering knowledge and experience of Machine operating and/or setting.
• Experience in quality checking of parts using micrometres / vernier calipers.
• Happy working a double dayshift that rotates weekly.

This role is offered on a permanent double day shift of 06.00 – 14.00 / 14.00 – 22.00 which rotates weekly. A competitive hourly rate with additional bonuses is offered for the right candidate.
