Graduate Hotels is seeking a full-time Maintenance Team member / Handy Man to join its team of hospitality enthusiasts!

Our Maintenance Team keeps our hotels looking great. Making sure everything works as it should and fixing the things that don’t.

The 148-bedroom Graduate Cambridge hotel is part of the Graduate Hotels collection inspired by the prestigious University of Cambridge and its surrounding town. Set right on the river Cam, in the heart of Cambridge's historic centre. The hotel feels like an extension of the university, with nods to college architecture.

  JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES    

  • To rectify any maintenance issues within the hotel on a daily basis as agreed by the Maintenance Manager / Operations Manager.
  • Carry out regular hotel inspections to identify maintenance requirements.
  • Carry out structured PPM (Pre-Preventative Maintenance) to a high standard of finish.
  • Ensure guest safety by eliminating potential risks and hazards.
  • Ensure that a safe and secure environment for guests, staff and visitors is maintained.
  • To ensure that all equipment is operated in line with trained instructions and is maintained in a clean working condition.
  • Store and use all hazardous substances in line with trained instructions.
  • To prioritise and complete all jobs according to departmental standards and within an appropriate timeframe and where this is not possible to ensure that guests and relevant managers are informed.
  • Ensures that all work complies with safety standards.
  • Interaction with all departments as and when required.
  • Painting, Wall repairs
  • Basic plumbing: Unblocking, fixing leaks, replacing taps/sinks/toilets
  • Basic carpentry: Doors, headboards, desktops
  • Basic electrical: Isolating and replacing like for like items
  • General maintenance tasks

  WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR FROM YOU

  • Must have previous experience in a similar role, ideally from a hotel environment
  • A good knowledge of Health and Safety
  • Must have the ability to multi-task, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication and excellent grooming standards
  • Able to work various shift patterns - morning, afternoon/evening, and weekends
  • Passionate and willing to learn
  • Positive attitude and someone who makes our guests smile
  • Genuinely friendly and caring
  • Electric and plumbing qualifications would be advantageous
