Managing Consultant – Health & Safety

ERM is looking for an experienced, passionate Health and Safety Consultant to join our team.

In this role you will support the successful delivery of ERM proposals and projects working with clients across a range of industries including mining, manufacturing, technology, power and energy, to improve health & safety performance. Our work includes supporting clients with improving their existing health & safety culture, reducing risks by developing skills across organisations including leaders, employees and contractors to promote safe outcomes to reinvigorating existing processes and programmes. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience developing and delivering world-class H&S programme solutions and supporting implementation.

You will be part of our interdisciplinary and international team and will collaborate with ERM offices across the UK, EMEA and globally. A willingness to travel within the UK and some international travel is required – candidates must have a valid passport and preferably full driving licence.

The ideal candidate will hold Masters level qualifications in related subjects and/or NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent), be registered or hold chartered membership status in a related institution and have 7+ years of experience in this field.

This role will be based from our Bristol , London or Manchester offices. ERM has a hybrid working policy and supports flexible working arrangements.

Main Responsibilities:

As a Health & Safety Consultant joining our team, your key focus will be to support the successful delivery of projects with clients. The position will require the successful candidate to:

  • Be versatile, and comfortable working on a range of health & safety projects and programmes;

  • Support with the development and implementation of health & safety and risk management systems and safety improvement and assurance programmes (and have good working knowledge of ISO45001);

  • Support in the field with health & safety training and coaching for leaders, managers, supervisors and general operatives to help them to build their individual competencies, capabilities and resilience;

  • Be proficient in understanding UK H&S legal requirements. Experience working internationally and an appreciation of international best practice is highly desirable;

  • Be proficient in writing reports, preparing presentations and authoring technical documents;

  • Provide technical leadership on health & safety matters and support the growth and evolution of ERM’s Health & Safety Services;

  • Be actively involved in business development, fostering relationships with existing and new clients and enhancing our existing services lines; 

  • Be proactively involved in the day-to-day management of projects, and be comfortable and proficient in managing budgets, resources, deliverables and scheduling; and

  • Support and mentor junior team members, helping them to shape their careers as Health and Safety Consultants.

  • Interest in working across sectors, specifically high hazard industries;

  • Comfortable working at client sites and engaging with all levels of the workforce;

  • Willingness to travel for project work.
