We are currently looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Manufacturing Team the Scientific, Research & Innovation group.

This is a full-time opportunity, on a permanent basis. The role will be based in South Mimms, Hertfordshire. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.  

Total compensation for this post is comprised of HEO base salary of £34,841, £3,276.96 Market Pay Supplement and on-call allowance of £9.5% base salary. Please note that on-call allowance compensation varies according to on-call hours worked. 

Who are we?  

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency enhance and improve the health of millions of people every day through the effective regulation of medicines and medical devices, underpinned by science and research.  

Standards Lifecycle produce the MHRA biological reference materials. Marketed using the NIBSC brand, the Agency is a global leader in the standardisation and control of biological medicines and related diagnostic tests and is responsible for developing and producing over 90% of the World Health Organisation (WHO) International Standards in use around the world to assure the quality of these important products. The Function is responsible for the WHO and other categories of Reference Materials and develops them from research and prototype materials through to completed validated products including manufacture and distribution. 

The Manufacturing team fill, freeze dry, label and pack biological standards. Working closely with colleagues within Standards lifecycle and the wider agency we ensure the availability, quality and supply of biological standards, WHO reagents, CE marked IVDs and contact filling commitments for the agency.  

 

What’s the role?

The Manufacturing Engineers work in the Manufacturing Team ensuring the effective an efficient operation of precision manufacturing equipment, including changeovers, breakdowns and repairs, validation of equipment, organising and maintaining maintenance and calibration schedules. The post holder will be part of a call-out team which provides 24/7 support for freeze driers and cold rooms.  

 

Key responsibilities:  

 

·       Ensure the effective and efficient operation of precision manufacturing equipment such as industrial scale filling, freeze driers and quality control test machinery. Post holder carries out equipment set up, changeovers, breakdowns and repairs.  

·       Co-ordinate and supervise the planned preventative maintenance programme for the specialist plant.  

·       Investigate and respond to faults and unscheduled tasks as they occur.  

·       Provide 24/7 out of hours cover as part of a team on a rota basis.

 

Who are we looking for?  

Our successful candidate will: 

·       Have experience of working in a Maintenance or Building services environment, preferably with experience of clean rooms or containment laboratories. 

·       Have previously worked within a quality management system such as GMP or ISO 9001 

·       Have experience managing or coordinating small projects. 

·       You will be PC competent – Microsoft office skills, building management systems and PPM systems advantageous. 

·       Have experience managing /co-ordination small projects.
