What will this role achieve?

Overall ownership and accountability for ensuring the manufacturing area is a safe, efficient and a quality focused operation which satisfies all pladis standards, plus customer expectations and requirements.

Participation in the development and execution of the sites continuous improvement vision and strategy will be a priority, as well as actively facilitating individual and team development as part of our overall labour strategy. You will have a key recommendation to the delivery of medium to long term strategy to enable the factory to be fit for the future, whilst managing the day-to-day cost base with variable plant utilisation!

What will be your key deliverables?

  • Lead departmental safety improvement plan through area ownership, accountability and behavioural program.
  • Responsible for driving the site Health and Safety (H&S) agenda across the manufacturing footprint, driving a safety-first culture and identifying capital opportunities to continue the site’s positive safety record.
  • Accountable for delivering departmental quality improvement plans achieving continual improvement of consumer complaints numbers, optimum housekeeping standards and compliance to our overall audit program.
  • Responsible for the motivation of your team, for leading, mentoring and performance management, ensuring a working culture where people can grow, develop and succeed.
  • Accountable for delivering continuously improving operating performance and conformance to plan, driving Year-on-Year cost base improvements across Manufacturing metrics.
  • Manage the delivery of Manufacturing Prime, Overhead and Operational budgets.
  • Build on improvement plans and initiatives, develop and implement successfully through to implementation and beyond.
  • Play a key role and champion aspects of the Harlesden culture change and growth initiatives and contribute to its overall delivery and purpose of creating a positive and engaging working environment.
  • Facilitate the development of Harlesden Manufacturing Strategy aligned with both site and pladis UK vision and objectives.
  • Key link with Marketing and NPD teams to ensure biscuit growth plans are optimised and completed flawlessly to drive new products and volume to site.
  • Support and implement the Harlesden Excellence agenda championing the processes, tools and techniques to promote a Right First Time and Root Cause mindset.
  • Integral role within the Site Leadership Team to support the setting and delivery against our Medium-term strategic goals.

Bring your experience

Essential

  • Manufacturing experience and strong analytical skills
  • Track record and passion to lead and deliver success through people
  • Strong communicator and natural motivator
  • Managing people in a change environment
  • Experience of leading and developing diverse teams
  • Experience, or understanding, of using Excellence / Continuous Improvement tools
  • The ability to handle multiple workstreams, whilst being able to effectively prioritise to ensure targets and deadlines are successfully achieved.

Desirable

  • Experience of operating in a FMCG organisation
  • Project Management experience across any business field
  • Specific experience of managing the Employee Life Cycle (hiring, onboarding, performance management)
  • Previous budget management experience
  • Experience of working in a unionised environment
