Materials Engineer - Gaydon

£28.00 per hour (Outside IR35)

Do you have materials engineering experience, and are you seeking a new job in Gaydon? Jonathan Lee Recruitment is helping a collaborative company recruit a Materials Engineering - Core Metals Laboratory Engineer, and this full-time role comes with a contract rate of £28.00 per hour.

As a Core Metals Laboratory Materials Engineer, you will work in a team with responsibility for metallic materials with an emphasis on laboratory metallurgical analysis of sheet steel, aluminium, cast extruded and forged materials. You will support all aspects of the materials engineering metallurgy section, including investigation of quality technical issues, validation and analysis.

In your first few weeks in this Materials Engineer role, you can expect to:

Support all aspects relating to material characterisation, validation and approval for new programmes
Contribute to laboratory failure investigation projects and test requests
Provide a materials technical consultancy service for all commodity teams
Undertake any other work directed by your line manager in connection with your job as may be requested.

Experience and knowledge of working in a metallurgical laboratory
Experience in metallurgy investigation, failure analysis, cutting, mounting, polishing samples for analysis, microscopy, NDA techniques
Technical knowledge/experience of metallic materials and technologies
Experience of a materials related technical role within a recognised industry equivalent to automotive
Experience working in cross-functional teams in a materials engineering capacity.
