Job Description

Castle Education are looking to appoint a strong and dedicated Mathematics teacher to join the school on a permanent basis. It is an independent day school with up to 20 pupils on roll, aged 8 to 18 years, all of whom have social, emotional, behavioural and mental health difficulties. Pupils are placed in Scarborough School by local authorities and most pupils have an Education Health and Care plan in place.

the School will deliver the full curriculum to our pupils whilst incorporating lots of opportunities for further experience through trips and activities outside of the classroom environment to enable pupils to become well rounded citizens in the future. We can consider Maths tutors and strong cover teachers without teaching qualification.

Position: Mathematics Teacher (Permanent)

The successful candidate will:

  • Have achieved a Degree in Teaching.
  • Primarily teach Mathematics throughout the school to KS2, KS3 and KS4. Be adaptable and able to teach across the age and ability range of our pupils.
  • Have knowledge of the full curriculum and be able to deliver in more than one curriculum area.
  • Have an understanding and experience of working with young people with SEMH difficulties and be able to use an empathetic approach to engage learners.
  • Identify appropriate learning outcomes and develop a range of approaches which reduce barriers and help pupils to attain achievable targets.
  • Able to facilitate a safe and positive learning environment and de-escalate any aggressive behaviour.
  • Have high expectations for all students and be able to raise attainment level and keep standards high.
  • Have good IT skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook & PowerPoint.
  • Have good interpersonal skills and will be able interact with and communicate confidently with staff and pupils.
  • Be a team player, with a positive, can do, attitude.
  • Have a sound understanding of Safeguarding practices and procedures.
  • Have de-escalation knowledge and restraint training, or be willing to undertake full training provided by the school.
