Full Job Description

Our client is thrilled to present a career opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Fitter. Within this role, you'll report to the Workshop & Site Supervisors and ultimately to the Operations Manager. It's a hands-on position that spans across the realms of mechanical engineering, requiring work in both a dedicated workshop and various onsite locations.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Performing dismantlement of a wide range of mechanical equipment, including but not limited to pumps, motors, gearboxes, and screens. This involves conducting thorough inspections and measurements to ascertain repair methodologies.
  • Engaging in fault diagnosis within mechanical equipment, supported by the provision of specialist equipment from our client.
  • Executing repairs and refurbishments of mechanical equipment under the Operations Manager's direction.
  • Operating within diverse environments such as Water Utility, Power Industry, and Government sites as part of a proficient mechanical & electrical team. Tasks may include working at heights, in confined spaces, and within both sewerage and potable water contexts.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar role, ideally backed by a Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship. Previous experience in Water Utilities or the Power Industry will be highly regarded.
  • Possession of a full UK driving licence.
  • Knowledge or experience in onsite health and safety regulations. Candidates with training in confined spaces and water hygiene will stand out, though training can be provided.
  • The ability to operate autonomously and exhibit excellent team communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with a knack for juggling multiple tasks effectively.

Our client offers a vibrant work atmosphere committed to growth and professional advancement. This is a full-time position (a minimum of 40 hours per week) with competitive remuneration, abundant overtime opportunities, a call-out rota, 25 days of annual leave plus statutory bank holidays, and immediate inclusion in the company pension scheme.

Seize the chance to be a part of our client's future vision, which not only promises a fulfilling role but also a trajectory towards promotions and expanded responsibilities.
