Mechanical Maintenance Technician – Power Station

MC Technical Recruitment are currently recruiting a Mechanical Technician to join the maintenance department of a gas fired power station (CCGT) in the Hoddesdon area. The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for the planning and execution of mechanical maintenance work across the site to ensure minimum downtime.

As the Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for:

• Day to day maintenance and fault-finding work on a wide range of mechanical plant equipment including pumps, valves, gearboxes, compressors
• Developing and writing technical specifications as required
• Planning and managing the execution of works and closing out work packs
• Assisting with outage planning and execution
• Providing technical support to the operations team when required
• Working alongside other Technicians and Engineers with regards to plant projects and upgrades
• Managing contractors when required

This is a days-based role working Monday to Friday with occasional weekend working

To be considered for this role you should have:

• A time served apprenticeship along with a relevant engineering qualification at HNC/HND in mechanical engineering or similar
• At least 4 years of post-apprenticeship experience working in the maintenance department of a heavy process plant e.g. power station, EFW, biomass, chemical plant, refinery, paper mill etc
• Experience carrying out maintenance and repair work on pumps, valves, gearboxes, compressors and other rotating machinery
• Ideally experience managing and directing contractors
• A good understanding of all HSE aspects
