NOV Completion Tools has an immediate opening for a Mechatronics/Electronics Engineer focusing on R&D and product development.

You will get to play around in our electronics lab, and you will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, building prototypes, testing and sustaining our downhole completion tool product portfolio.

You will have ownership of multiple projects, undertaking all engineering activities relating to each project including design, development, testing, calculations, producing drawings, bill of materials (BOM) and documentation.

Reporting directly to our Engineering Manager, you will work as a part of an international, multi-disciplinary team of engineers. In addition, the role requires you to interact with our sales, operational and manufacturing departments.

You will:

  • Concentrate on new product development, taking products from novel concepts to commercialization. Complete the lifespan of a product, including conceptualization, design, prototype, and qualification testing.
  • Contribute in concept and design reviews.
  • Attend product-related meetings or reviews with customers
  • Estimate budget and scope of project
  • Prepare product reports and documentation
  • Carry out sustaining work and product improvement on existing product portfolio
  • Identify and qualify alternative electronic components according to product specifications.
  • Assist the manufacturing units and the rest of the supply chain with technical support.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Electronics or Mechatronics
  • Experience with new product development and developing electromechanical tools, preferably within design of downhole oilfield equipment. 
  • Experience with Electronic Hardware Design (preferably Altium Designer)
  • Experience with Micro-controller (Microchip Technology) and embedded programming. Embedded C, C#, Matlab,
  • Experience with version control (Git)
  • Familiar with IDE (Microsoft Visual Studio) is an advantage
  • Experience with CAD software is an advantage

The position will be based at our offices in Stavanger, Norway, but we welcome applications from candidates that are open to relocation.
