Job Description :

The Media & Digital Manager will be working on some of our market leading brands within the whisky and reserve including Tequila. Brands include Johnnie Walker, The Singleton, Talisker, Don Julio and Casamigos. Each brand has a key role to play in delivering the GB business ambition.

A unique opportunity for anyone with a real passion and flair for media planning with a deep understanding and proven track record of the principles that drive business growth. The role will be responsible for leading Diageo’s annual connection planning process to deliver market leading data driven media plans. Working hand in hand with our media agency partner PHD, you will be responsible for designing and delivering the full media and digital ecosystem and therefore will have strong foundations in the buying and execution of all media/digital channels.

Key to the success will be driving a culture of performance marketing through the use of Diageo’s digital dashboards to lead on the on-going optimisation strategies. We all need to be digital marketeers sharing key insights from media and creative to the brand marketing team in service of driving business growth. The successful candidate will thrive in working in a fast paced environment and have proven ability to analyse data and be able to share findings to key collaborators of all levels in a clear and concise manner.

The Media & Digital Manager for Whisky & Reserve will report into the Head of Media and Digital and will have direct exposure to the GB marketing leadership team.  

Top Accountabilities

  • Acting as a well rounded media expert responsible for delivering world class data-driven media plans for our brands that are activated admirably working seamlessly with your category brand teams
  • Influencing and building capability in order to drive effective media planning that delivers category and brand growth
  • Leading the annual Diageo connections planning process with PHD our agency partner and marketing teams delivering annual connections plan strategies
  • Ensuring all media plans for our brands across the portfolio uphold our global media standards
  • Lead on developing media optimisation strategies through Diageo’s performance dashboards and lead on creative optimisations required
  • Work in collaboration with senior collaborators to influence media investments decisions
  • Work to deliver fully integrated connections plans. Responsible for ensuring all activity operates 100% ‘no dead ends’ across the consumer journey
  • Ensure appropriate use of data, insight & econometrics as part of the connections planning process and on going optimisations to drive business performance
  • Help drive a performance marketing mentality and culture when it comes to media optimisation
  • Media leadership: ability to influence media decisions at all levels internally and externally with maturity
  • Understand the principles to drive recruitment/Re-recruitment within media  – both from a shopper and consumer perspective for the brands
  • Physical Availability - the ability to see, find and trigger associated memories in a buying context, all resulting in success at the point of purchase
  • External trend ownership - bringing the outside into Diageo providing inspiration to brand teams.
  • Future facing, autonomously spotting opportunities, selling them in and driving to showcase business results

Ideal experiences / Qualifications / capabilities

  • Be a passionate media expert that has a deep understanding of how media works within a CPG business model and the P&L levers that drive growth
  • Proven track record on the right buying strategies within across media channels to deliver growth  
  • You are constantly curious about consumers; have a deep understanding of consumer behaviour across all media channels and an eye on the future to ensure Diageo is always at forefront of change
  • Be externally obsessed – first to act on insight and fast to implement implications with internal and external agency partners to deliver business growth.
  • Self starter, proactive with ability to autonomously own workstreams, spot opportunities, sell them in and implement to showcase business results
  • A strong teammate who enjoy working in a fast-paced team environment. Always ready to roll-up your sleeves and get things done and is unflappable in the face of change providing clear routes forward
  • 5 years+ experience in planning media on a portfolio client within a marketing/agency environment
  • Proven ability to craft media planning strategies and activations that have delivered YoY growth
  • Confident digital native: proven strategic planning ability across all digital channels and platforms (social, display, video, PPC etc) understanding the roles each plays within the consumer journey
  • Demonstrated brilliant execution to impeccably high standards
  • Deep personal accountability for great performance
