Job summary

As a member of the Asset & Wealth Management (AWM) Chief Data Office (CDO) you will join the newly formed Data Product Metadata Management team within AMW CDO, collectively responsible for owning, developing and maintaining the Core Logical Data Model and the AWM Business Glossary in support of developing data products for maintaining and accessing core enterprise level data. Our team members work closely with Senior Management to help execute the firmwide data product-based approach to accelerate data value realization with descriptive and predictive analytics. 

Job responsibilities

• Understands, analyzes, captures and maintains business data requirements using data models. Ensuring these models are consistent and that the Business Glossary is linked and maintained in a manner that allows impact assessment and lineage of metadata. Loading and versioning of the models into a central Metadata repository
• Reviews, adopts and integrates data models from Firmwide, other LOB and development teams into AWM LOB models. Provides review feedback to Firmwide and application teams
• Manages documentation within a central data portal that details all the AWM data modelling standards, keeping this information up to date and relevant is key
• Supports Cloud Data Migration Lead in AWM CDO to fulfill information and technology asset management responsibilities assigned to LOB Chief Data Officer
• Assists data Product owners and development teams to adopt and reuse AWM Core Logical Data Model in producing application logical models and data offering models
• Assists development teams to map their data implementations to the logical data model for documentation, lineage to business glossary and application model creation
• Maintains data integrity rules and assists data analysts with capturing business rules and translating into clear requirement specifications and then into the data model expressed in a structured language is a task under the responsibility of the data modeler

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Bachelor’s degree 
• Relevant financial modelling experience having had exposure to conceptual, logical, canonical or semantic modelling
• A good understanding of financial and business data such as:  instrument data, instrument pricing data, party & account data, positions & transactions, fund data, investment performance data, index & benchmark data, market vendor data for buy-side researchers and portfolio managers
• ER (Entity Relationship) modelling to a competent level to be able to coach others in business requirements capture
• Proficient with a data modelling tool such as Erwin, PowerDesigner or MagicDraw
• Effective with minimal supervision, works under own initiative and executes with end-to-end focus
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to be comfortable in a confrontational situation. Team player with relationship building skills. Influences and drives key aspects of the business/function

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• University studies in one of the following subjects: Commerce, Accountancy, Computer Science, Information Technology
• A good understanding of different modelling notations (UML, ORM, etc.) and data schemas (JSON, XSD, XML). Metadata management, Metadata Repository, Data dictionary usage and associated tools. Cloud data management experience
• An understanding of what constitutes best practice data governance and data quality controls
• Business Analysis experience within banking and financial services industry, preferably in the Asset and Wealth Management space
