Aerotron Composites is a privately owned company, one of a number of successful aviation companies in the Aerotron group. At our site in Chatteris we manufacture composite aircraft components for a number of major aerospace manufacturers. We are currently expanding our manufacturing capacity and in 2022 will launch new repair capability for airlines within a new build extension of our current facilities.

We are looking for a Metrology Engineer to join our established team. Salary and responsibility will be offered according to experience and qualifications.

Job Purpose

 ·        To ensure high quality standards are maintained while supporting the engineering and inspection teams in delivering to our customers. Carry out key responsibilities, as well as supporting continuous improvement and quality tasks across the business. Communicate at all levels and be customer facing on technical issues. Be self-motivated and professional in approach with a can-do attitude.

 Key Responsibilities

 ·        Fully conversant with inspection software and equipment

·        Using customer drawings and ‘statements of work’, to contribute to inspection plans and instructions

·        Deep understanding of GD&T

·      Understand manual inspection techniques and where required be hands on

·        Have a good understanding of the CMM inspection process, be able to talk through set ups and inspection techniques with customer, inspection team and engineers

·        Train /develop both new and existing staff and monitor to confirm progress

·        Release signatory for quality sign off

·       Regularly assess the businesses metrology capability in terms of equipment and personnel

·        Knowledge of a compliance system to maintain quality standards (ISO9001, AS9100, etc)

·  Continuous development of departmental operations

·        Assist in internal & external Quality audits/visits

Requirements

 ·        Contribute to the preparation and completion of quality documentation

·        Creating robust inspection strategies

·        Producing clear and accurate instructions for inspectors

·        Supporting inspection requirements including creating design guidelines

·        Ensure that quality is maintained to specific requirements

·  To ensure all inspection equipment is maintained in accordance with requirements
