About the role

As a Multicultural Caseworker,  you will respond to reports about children or young people who may have been harmed or where there are safety concerns. The first priority is always the safety, welfare and wellbeing of the children or young person.

You will work sensitively and respectfully with parents, family members, children or young people, and work collaboratively with other agencies to develop safety plans and complete risk assessments.

Multicultural Caseworkers use their cross-cultural skills and expertise to assist families from a range of backgrounds. This role targets Vietnamese speaking communities and language skills in Vietnamese  is highly desirable.

Internal candidates will only need to complete a Cultural assessment. 

Multicultural Caseworkers support families by providing:

•    Primary Casework – working with families from their target community

•    Secondary Casework – for families from their target community
•    Cultural Consultations – to other Caseworkers supporting families from their target community
•    Language Support – Multicultural Caseworkers in roles targeting a specific language group are requested to undertake a language assessment and if successful, receive accreditation to provide simple communication with families. About you

You will bring a commitment to working collaboratively with multicultural children, families and communities including Aboriginal and diverse cultures and have:

•    A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Social Science, Community Welfare or a related degree 
•    Experience working with vulnerable children, young people and their families
•    A valid Australian driver’s licence and willingness to drive
•    A working with children clearance number
