Full Job Description

Detective Constable – ROCT

Regional Organised Crime Team

Northwest Regional Organised Crime Unit

Covert location – Warrington

The North West Regional Organised Crime Unit – NWROCU is a collaborative multi agency covert response to tackle serious and organised crime across the North West Region.

The NWROCU leads the policing response into serious and organised crime throughout the region. This includes Cumbria, Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire, Greater Manchester and North Wales.  The NWROCU provides the vital link from national capabilities and expertise to local policing and knowledge, enabling the delivery of the Government’s Serious and Organised Crime strategy, to protect our communities from those who cause the most harm.

This is an exciting opportunity for Constables to join the North West ROCU and target Serious and Organised Crime through proactive investigations and a thorough 4P’s plan.

As a member of the crime team, you will be involved in covert operations tasked with disrupting and dismantling organised crime groups who are causing the most harm within the region’s communities. Utilising a range of overt and covert tactics, you will be expected to build evidential cases, perform disclosure duties and support them through the court process.

Applications are welcome from candidates who are ICIDP (PIP2 investigations) trained and experienced in major/serious organised crime.

Successful candidates are not required to carry out the advanced driving course or the Q1/Q100 surveillance course.

The post is subject to a minimum 2-year secondment, subject to continuous funding and performance in the role. Applicants who have previously been on secondment must have spent at least 18 months back in Force to be eligible to apply for a further secondment.

All applicants must have completed their probation and have been a standard driver for at least 12 months.

Successful applicants will also require MV and SC vetting clearance prior to a timetable for secondment and courses being agreed.

NWROCU is located in the Warrington area, close to good public transport links and the motorway network.  In cases where the commute to NWROCU is in excess of applicant’s current commute, excess travel will be paid.

NWROCU is committed to ensuring that we have a work force that represents the communities we serve and we are keen to attract applications from all underrepresented groups.

Further information regarding the work of the units advertising vacancies is attached and if you require any further information or guidance this can be obtained from DI Dave Worthington on 07811 042820.

Applications must have Home Force support, the level of support required must comply with local Force policy e.g. whether support required at ACC level and HR Support. Before starting an application, applicants must download the secondment support form, ensure it is completed in full and then upload to your application.

Applicants will be prompted and applications will not proceed until this has been completed.
