Warrington

This post is open to substantive Sergeants or to suitably qualified Constables, who with the support of their Chief Officers, will be temporarily promoted into the post.

Applications must have Home Force support, the level of support required must comply with local Force policy e.g. whether support required at ACC level and HR Support. Before starting an application, applicants must download the secondment support form, ensure it is completed in full and then upload to your application.

Applicants will be prompted and applications will not proceed until this has been completed.

The North West Regional Organised Crime Unit is a collaborative multi agency covert response to tackle serious and organised crime across the North West region.

The NWROCU is responsible for identifying, disrupting and dismantling serious and organised criminals causing the most significant harm across the NW by providing specialist and operational support, research and direction on strategic, tactical and emerging issues. The NWROCU facilitates Regional Coordination and Tasking, which then informs and influences decisions allowing the effective deployment of resources. The promotion of collaborative working with key partner agencies and interoperability is necessary to achieve this and a 4Ps focus is key to NWROCU’s performance.

The NWROCU leads the policing response across the region posed by serious and organised crime in Cumbria, Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire, Greater Manchester and North Wales. The NWROCU provides the vital link from national capabilities and expertise to local policing and knowledge, enabling the North West region to deliver the Government’s Serious and Organised Crime strategy and to protect communities from harm.

The post is subject to an initial secondment period of 2 years, with extension subject to performance and continued funding.

Suitably qualified Detective Sergeants are sought in order to coordinate and improve the law enforcement response to Modern Slavery and Organised Immigration Crime.

This will be achieved by driving activity through the provision of expertise, advice and support to police forces, law enforcement partners and ROCUs to increase the standard and coordination of investigations and subsequently the number of prosecutions, whilst delivering on any national requirements fed from the MSOICP. In As the DS you will support the DI who is aligned to the MSOIC programme for the North West.

Successful applicants working within NWROCU will be subject to Management Vetting and enhanced SC Vetting prior to taking up post.   In cases where the commute is in excess of applicant’s current commute, excess travel will be paid.

NWROCU is committed to ensuring that we have a work force that represents the communities we serve, and we are keen to attract applications from underrepresented groups
